Donal and Mona leave Belfast for a new start in ’60s London. Strangers in an unfamiliar city, they fall in love with life, each other and the drink. An exciting whirlwind of discovery startes to spiral out of control as alcohol takes its grip.
‘We were like movie stars – I used to imagine we didn’t walk, we glided – now all we do is stumble – it wasn’t meant to be like this’.
Theatre Jezeble brings its third production ot the Tron following on from its succes with Neil LaBute’s Autobahn and John Patrick Shanle’s Doubt. This adaptation by Owen McCafferty of Days of Wine and Roses was first produced at the Donmar Warehouse to critical acclaim in 2005. JP Miller’s version was famously filmed in 1962 with Jack Lemmon and Lee Remick in the main roles.
‘a classy production worthy of repeat viewing’ ***** THE HERALD on Autobahn
‘all three leading characters are brilliantly played…Keith Fleming superbly ambiguous as Father Flynn, and Sally Reid heartrending as the naive and idealistic young Sister James’. **** THE SCOTSMAN on Doubt ”

Casablanca: The Gin Joint Cut is a lovingly disrespectful homage to one of the classic films of all time. First performed last year to sell-out audiences at Oran Mor, a superb multi-tasking cast whisk you back to Morocco 1941, a Nazi-infested hotbed of corruption, teeming with refugees and all the flotsam and jetsam of war-torn Europe. Cut to Rick’s bar where the emigres gather, desperate to get hold of the all elusive exit visa, when who should walk in but the beautiful Ilsa, Rick’s long lost love….
Casablanca has some of the most iconic scenes and best lines ever written, so why not play it again? But this time in a tiny gin joint, with three actors. Morag Fullarton’s fast-paced distillation will have you raise a Bogart-style eyebrow, shed a Bergman-like tear and drown out the Nazis with a rousing chorus of the Marseillaise.
