Tron Theatre – Mister Merlin a Pure Magic Panto

A couple of production shots of the Tron Theatre’s Christmas panto, Mister Merlin.

Details below taken from the Tron Theatre’s website

MISTER MERLIN A PURE MAGIC PANTO

    presented by TRON THEATRE COMPANY

    written by Alex Norton
    directed by Andy Arnold

Mister Merlin’s magic is mince if he doesn’t have his wand – a family heirloom handed down through many Merlin generations. The Great Bahooky’s magic has always been mince, so stealing Mister Merlin’s wand, helped (or is it hindered?) by his side-kick Bumble, is part of his cunning plan for wizard world domination.
What he didn’t bank on was Merlin having a guardian angel, in the guise of The Govan Fairy; or two plucky puppet pals Peter and Penny prepared to brave Clabber Castle’s haunted garden to get the wand back.

Last performed in 1989, Peter & Penny’s Panto is given a modern day makeover by original creator Alex Norton.

Days Of Wine and Roses – Tron Theatre – Theatre Jezebel

Below are details from the Tron Theatre’s website…

presented by TRON THEATRE COMPANY + THEATRE JEZEBEL

a new version by OWEN McCAFFERTY
designed and directed by Kenny Miller

with Keith Fleming + Sally Reid

Donal and Mona leave Belfast for a new start in ’60s London. Strangers in an unfamiliar city, they fall in love with life, each other and the drink. An exciting whirlwind of discovery startes to spiral out of control as alcohol takes its grip.

‘We were like movie stars – I used to imagine we didn’t walk, we glided – now all we do is stumble – it wasn’t meant to be like this’.

Theatre Jezeble brings its third production ot the Tron following on from its succes with Neil LaBute’s Autobahn and John Patrick Shanle’s Doubt. This adaptation by Owen McCafferty of Days of Wine and Roses was first produced at the Donmar Warehouse to critical acclaim in 2005. JP Miller’s version was famously filmed in 1962 with Jack Lemmon and Lee Remick in the main roles.

‘a classy production worthy of repeat viewing’ ***** THE HERALD on Autobahn

‘all three leading characters are brilliantly played…Keith Fleming superbly ambiguous as Father Flynn, and Sally Reid heartrending as the naive and idealistic young Sister James’. **** THE SCOTSMAN on Doubt ”

The Chooky Brae – The Palace Theatre – Kilmarnock

Today i was down in Kilmarnock taking images for The chooky Brae. Below is some information regarding the show.

Info taken from The Tron Theatre’s website.

    Presented by Borderline Theatre Company
    By D. C. Jackson

    WORLD PREMIERE

    Directed by Kenny Miller

The final part of D.C. Jackson’s Stewarton Trilogy!

It’s Christmas Day in Stewarton and Irene Gordon’s struggling to get in the festive spirit. Her 18 year-old daughter Norma’s just had a baby, her ex-husband Gordon’s just had a stroke and her eldest Barry’s having a break down. Even the Dr Who Christmas special is disappointing. If this was a wonderful life she would receive some angelic intervention – instead she gets Rab McGuire and an escaped chicken that won’t be stuffed.

A new play about love, duty and free range fowl, The Chooky Brae is Borderline Theatre’s follow up to their smash hits The Wall and The Ducky.

The cast of Chooky Brae are; Sally Reid (Norma), Anita Vetesse (Irene Gordon), Stewart Porter (Gordon Gordon), Scott Hoatson (Barry) and Jordan Young (Rab).
