Ta Prohm
Hi folks. What a fantastic time i had. I think i need another holiday after this one
Over the 17 days we must have walked around 70 miles. very tiring but very much worth it.
We started off in Japan for 6 days where our friend Ryan stays. He taught English over there for 2years, He has since returned to the UK ( last week ) but he spent alot of time with us when we were over there and kindly let us stay at his apartment. Thanks again for that Ryan, your a good mate
In Japan we stayed in Kyoto and also went to Hiroshima, Nara and Miyajima and Fushimi-inari.
I will be posting a seperate blog post on Hiroshima. It deserves it, for obvious reasons.
After our 6 days in Japan we travelled to Korea by ferry for 1 night. From Korea we got a flight to Vietnam where we spent a night in Ho Chi Minh City before heading on the bus to Chau Doc. From spending 6 days in Japan i found Vietnam very very different. Perhaps we didnt spend enough time in Vietnam but i much preferred Japan, still great in its own right though, just different.
We then left Chau Doc and got an amazing boat ride into Cambodia’s Phnom Penh. Crossing the border and getting our visa’s by boat was an amazing experience.
We spent 2 days in Phnom Penh and visited quite a few places including The Killing Fields and the Tuol Sleng Genocide museum.
These places were very harrowing but im so glad we got to visit them. If you do not know about the history of this then id suggest looking this up – Poi Pot
We then got a bus to Siem Reap. This was one of the places i was most looking forward to ( that and Japan of course )
The amazing Angkor Wat temples are in Siem Reap and we got a 3 day pass to see them and pretty much spent all day travelling around a fair amount of temples by the help from our amazing ” Tuk Tuk ” driver Sarorn Thoeurn. What may not seem alot to most of us is perhaps good money for these guys and for as little as $15 they drive you around all day taking you from temple to temple ( or anywhere else you wish to go ). The great thing about Sarorn though is he knows ALOT of history about the ancient temples and gave us loads of information on each one before we visited them. such a amazing guy. again, i have loads of footage ( including some tricks i got on video from Sarorn which is pretty funny ) that i will be posting over the coming weeks.
We then left Cambodia and took the longest journey ever to Thailand to get our flight home. I think we were awake for some 50 odd hours from leaving Cambodia to finally making our way back home via Egypt. I wouldnt take any of it back though and was worth every single penny.
And that my friends is how you travel to 5 different countries in 2 weeks
I have soo many images and videos to go through and if i wasnt so busy with other stuff ( work ) then id post them all.
However, this post wouldnt be the same without an image so here is one from Angkor Wat at sunrise. This temple and a few others were used in the Tomb Raider movie starring Angelina Jolie.
Sunrise was around 5.30am and there had to be around 400 hundred folk packed inside Angkor Wat to catch it.
Crazy eh.
